China Petroleum's ultra-deep oil and gas exploration and development technology develops rapidly

In mid-July, the author was informed at the “Talli Ultra-deep Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Domestic and Foreign Benchmarking Seminar” organized by China National Petroleum Corporation Consulting Center that the ultra-deep oil and gas exploration and development technology represented by the Tarim Basin has developed rapidly.

The ultra-deep oil and gas exploration and development in the Tarim Basin faces world challenges such as desert and mountainous harsh surface environments and complex reservoir-forming conditions of superimposed basins. After more than 30 years of scale oil and gas exploration and development, innovation has formed a wide-line large-scale seismic exploration, high-temperature and high-pressure ultra-deep drilling. The special techniques such as well and tight sandstone reservoir reconstruction have solved the complex structural imaging problems in the piedmont. The average drilling cycle of ultra-deep wells has been shortened from 498 days to 380 days, and the output of ultra-deep tight sandstone reservoirs has reached more than one million cubic meters per day. The average production increased by 4 times.

With the discovery of the Keshen trillion-element cubic field, the Harahatang oilfield, and the large-scale condensate gas field in the Tazhong Basin, the important position and role of the ultra-deep oil and gas exploration and development technology in the Tarim Basin in the same industry at home and abroad are highlighted. China's western economic development and national energy security have provided technical support, which has boosted the implementation of the “One Belt, One Road” national strategy.
