Today, I returned 200 million chrome-plated springs from the electroplating factory. I had planned to inspect them, pack them, and then ship them out. But when I looked at the surface of the springs, I was shocked by the number of imperfections—spots all over the place! I touched them with my hands and even tied them together just to check. What could be going on? I decided to start by looking at the root cause. I went back to the raw parts that hadn't been sent for plating yet and checked them closely. To my surprise, there was a lot of slag stuck to the surface of the raw components. It turned out that during the machining process, the machine was cutting the springs and leaving behind some residue.
The problem was that we weren't properly cleaning the raw parts before sending them to the plating department. As a result, the slag got trapped under the chrome layer during the electroplating process. Once the plating was done, the surface wasn’t smooth—it was full of blemishes and inconsistencies. This is a big issue because it affects the quality and appearance of the final product. I need to make sure that our quality control team checks the raw materials more carefully before they go into the plating process. It's not just about speed; it's about attention to detail. If we don’t fix this now, it could lead to more returns and customer complaints down the line.
