Wallpaper performance is equally important

The U.S. federal government stipulates that wallpaper must have certain weight and performance standards. This rule has been implemented until 1997. After 1997, the weight rules were removed and performance became the only factor in determining the type of wallpaper. The classification of wallpaper is based on the standards established by the Federal Government and the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM). The requirements of its features and performance are specified by the Federal Administration in CCC-W-408D. (CCC-W-408D also includes data on the flame-retardant properties in the Steiner pipeline test.) All of these tests were performed by a qualified organization. The kinds of wallpapers that the Federal Government has stipulated and their uses are as follows:
Class I - for ceilings and areas that are not subject to wear. Class II - for the general flow of people and vulnerable areas. Class III - mainly used as a material for wall protection or a protective surface in the lower part of a wall. It is used in crowded places, such as the entrance to and exit of a hospital. It requires handling equipment or areas that are subject to severe wear.
