In 2011 and 2012, engineers from Anhui Tianzhushan Tourism Development Co., Ltd. conducted experiments at Tianzhu Temple, Mazu, Changgou, and Villa within Tianzhushan National Forest Park to identify effective pesticides for controlling *Aphis striata*. The study evaluated four different formulations: 5% imidacloprid EC, 40% omethoate EC, 4.5% beta-cypermethrin EC, and 25% diflubenzuron suspension. Each of these pesticides was applied using two different spraying methods, and the results were carefully analyzed to assess their effectiveness in managing the pest population.
The findings revealed a strong linear relationship between the concentration of the pesticide and its control efficacy, with R² values exceeding 0.9 in most cases. All four chemicals demonstrated good performance in controlling *A. striata*, but the effectiveness varied significantly depending on the concentration used. Among the tested options, 5% imidacloprid EC showed excellent systemic absorption properties, while 40% omethoate EC at a 1500-fold dilution proved particularly effective in reducing infestations.
Based on these results, the China National Pesticides Network recommends using 5% imidacloprid EC and 40% omethoate EC diluted at 1500 times for the effective management of *A. striata* in similar environments. These findings are crucial for agricultural and horticultural practices, especially in protected natural areas where environmental impact must be carefully considered. The study highlights the importance of selecting the right pesticide formulation and application method to achieve optimal results while minimizing ecological risks.
