The concept of bearing fit refers to the relationship between the inner ring and the shaft, as well as the outer ring and the housing bore. Bearings are typically considered thin-walled components due to their structure, and they tend to deform easily when mounted on a shaft or in a housing. The shape of the shaft and housing can influence the roundness of the inner and outer rings. When selecting the appropriate bearing fit, several factors must be taken into account. Generally, the rotating ring should have a tighter fit compared to the stationary ring, especially when the load direction remains constant. This is because the rotating ring is subjected to dynamic loads, while the stationary one remains fixed. As speed, load, and vibration increase, a tighter fit becomes more necessary. In cases where the bearing is installed in a thin-walled housing or a hollow shaft, a tight fit is also recommended. However, excessive tightness can lead to problems. The internal clearance of the bearing may decrease or even disappear due to the elastic expansion of the inner ring or the contraction of the outer ring. Additionally, irregularities in the surface of the shaft or housing, or uneven rigidity, can cause deformation of the bearing’s inner and outer rings, which may negatively affect its performance. Tight fits can also make assembly and disassembly difficult, particularly in heavy machinery. For split-type housings, a looser fit is usually preferred. If the outer ring is allowed to move axially during operation, the fit between the outer ring and the housing bore should also be loose. It is important not to restrict the outer ring’s movement within the housing hole. A looser fit can help improve rotational precision and reduce vibrations. Temperature fluctuations during operation can also impact the fit. Bearings often operate at higher temperatures than surrounding components, causing thermal expansion. This can loosen the inner ring’s fit with the shaft and expand the outer ring’s fit with the housing. In such cases, it's essential to consider the temperature differences between various parts of the bearing system and the direction of heat transfer when choosing the appropriate fit.

Half-Ball Lens

Ball lens are highly transparent spheres made of optical glasses. They are used as fiber interconnects in telecom and expanded beam connectors.Large ball lenses have been successfully used as collectors in LED lighting systems and medical devices. They have high coupling efficiency and should be much easier to align than traditional lenses due to its physical shape.Fused silica balls are ideal for the most demanding ball lens applications in the ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared spectra. Sapphire balls has superior optical transmission qualities. Ruby Balls are easier to see and therefore easier to handle for physical applications.

Half ball(hemispherical)lenses are ideal for applications such as fiber communication, endoscopy, microscopy, optical pick-up devices and laser interferometry and measurement.
