For this purpose, Lockheed Martin has created a high-powered, miniature cryogenic cooling system called High Power Microcryocooler that provides the industry's highest power density density cryogenic system. With a power density density three times that of other conventional products, the precision space sensor can be kept cold at all times, and the compact size and weight can also reduce the burden on the capsule.

Since the first generation of high-resolution far-infrared sensors and similar precision components were sent to space, how to keep them cool has always been a problem for engineers. A cryostat using liquid nitrogen is a solution, but this system is very expensive, bulky, and it is not an easy task to send it to space. And Lockheed Martin's HPM cryogenic cooling system, compared to it is very compact universities. At the same time, a sturdy and practical mechanical design can guarantee 10 years of use and weigh less than 0.4 kg. Despite its small size and light weight, the power density is as high as 150 watts/kg, which keeps the sensor components at a low temperature of -195°C. In comparison, the power density of other similar refrigeration products is usually around 30-60 watts/kilogram.

Jeffrey Olson, a research scientist at Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Center, said “HPM's high-power micro-cooled cryogenic system has been overly impacted by similar small products, and is a revolutionary evolution in size compared to previous products, and we continue Improve its power density.
