In response to the call of the Party Central Committee, it is essential to fully implement the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and the Provincial Party Committee. This initiative aims to guide young people in deeply understanding the meanings of the "Chinese Dream" and the "Central Plains Dream," while also cultivating a strong sense of responsibility and enthusiasm for learning from the nation. Social practice plays a vital role in this process, offering students real-world experiences that help them grow and contribute meaningfully to society.
On July 3rd, the School of Materials at Henan University of Technology held its 2013 Summer Social Practice Mobilization Conference and Launching Ceremony. The theme of this year’s activities was “Building a Beautiful Chinese Dream,†with 40 teams formed and deployed across various locations. Each team conducted meaningful social practice activities, achieving notable progress and gaining valuable insights.
One of the key initiatives was the visit to alumni working in the abrasive industry. The “Sports Science and Technology University†summer practice team visited several companies, including Zhengzhou Shuangrun Technology Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou Saint-Gobain Abrasives Co., Ltd., and Zhengzhou Xinya Composite Superhard Materials Co., Ltd. These visits aimed to strengthen the bond between the university and its graduates, while also providing students with an opportunity to learn about the professional paths and experiences of their predecessors. Through these interactions, students gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed in the workforce and how to better prepare themselves during their studies.
Another significant event took place on July 9th, when the “Cheng Wen Yang Zhi†social practice team joined Taiwanese students from Chiayi University in the “Summer Crossing the Straits Meet the Central Plains†youth camp. The team participated in a cultural exchange activity centered around the worship of ancestral temples, deepening mutual understanding between the youth from both sides of the strait. Lin Jinde, Chairman of the World Lin Clan Association, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional Chinese culture.
The event not only strengthened cultural ties but also fostered greater recognition of shared heritage among young people from both regions. It laid a solid foundation for future cross-strait exchanges and cooperation.
Additionally, the “Harmony Line†team engaged with the residents of the Funiubei community, offering services and receiving high praise from local leaders. Community Director Hu Jianping expressed gratitude for the students' efforts and proposed establishing a long-term practice base. Meanwhile, the “Green Dream†team conducted research at Wuxin Heavy Industry in Wugang City, leading to a partnership agreement and the establishment of a social practice base.
Through the combined efforts of faculty and students, the 2013 summer social practice activities achieved remarkable results. Students gained practical experience, developed a stronger sense of social responsibility, and contributed positively to the communities they served. These activities not only enhanced their personal growth but also reflected the educational value of hands-on learning and societal engagement.
