US PLB publishes new anti-loose nut bolts

US Perfect Lock Bolt recently released a lock bolt (PLB) with a double-threaded nut system to reduce or eliminate the common self-relaxation problem in the fastener industry.

The PLB has a double threaded bolt and two nuts with different teeth. The first main nut on the rod is a coarse nut, and the second or outer nut on the rod is a fine nut or a "anti-loose nut". When the PLB is subjected to external forces that may cause self-relaxation, the main nut will move away from the preset pressure on the bolt stem at a faster rate than the second locknut. At any force that would cause loosening, the primary nut and the second nut will move away from the preset pressure zone at different rates, creating a mechanical lock between the two nuts.
