How to choose a good coating for “perspective eye”?

Architectural paints are products made from certain materials such as film forming materials, pigments, fillers, solvents, and the like, and are used for the decoration and protection of interior and exterior walls of buildings and other structures.

The output of China's architectural coatings has maintained a rapid growth for ten consecutive years, with an average annual compound growth rate of 22.0%, and the total output in 2010 reached 3.5182 million tons, ranking the first in the world. However, the scale of enterprises is generally small. Large-scale enterprises with an annual output of over 5,000 tons are less than 3%. The high-end market is basically occupied by imported products, wholly foreign-owned companies and several private enterprises.

At present, China has issued 12 types of architectural coating product standards and 4 safety standards. The more important standards are GB/T 9756-2009 Synthetic Resin Emulsion Interior Wall Coating; JG/T 210-2007 Building Primers for Interior and Exterior Walls; JG/T172-2005 Flexible Building Coatings; and GB 18582-2008. “Restrictions on Harmful Substances in Interior Decorating Materials for Interior Wall Coatings”; GB 24408-2009 “Limits for Harmful Substances in Exterior Paints for Buildings”; GB/T 23994-2009 Limits for Specific Harmful Elements in Coatings for Consumer Products Contacted with Human Body 》;HJ/T 201-2005 "Environmental Marking Products Technical Requirements Waterborne Coatings".

From 2001 to 2014, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) organized and conducted random inspections of synthetic resin emulsion interior wall coating products for 14 consecutive years. The main problems found in the spot check are the free formaldehyde content, heavy metal content, contrast ratio, scrub resistance and low temperature stability.

Formaldehyde has anti-mildew function, and the price is low. In order to reduce costs, production companies do not use low-toxicity compound anti-mold agent and use formaldehyde solution, resulting in excessive formaldehyde content in the hot season (more than 100mg/kg), while free formaldehyde has high toxicity. It is easy to damage human tissues and reduce immunity.

Excessive amounts of soluble heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, chromium, and mercury may be caused by adding excessive amounts of white inorganic pigments containing cadmium to achieve the “ultra-white” effect. Excessive amounts of heavy metals are likely to cause poisoning, which is bound to be explained. Years can also understand drops.

How to choose paint:

1. Determine the species. Exterior latex paint is resistant to ultraviolet radiation, does not change color for a long period of time, requires water resistance, and there is no interior latex paint, so interior latex paint cannot be used to paint exterior walls. Strong UV area paints are best to choose silicone, acrylic, fluorocarbon and other weather-resistant coatings; rainy areas or wet walls should be selected mildew, moisture-proof performance of good interior wall paint.

2. Seriously identify product quality

(1) Check the packaging

First of all, we must ensure that the drums are in good condition. If the drums are packaged, look for joints or welds at the joints where there should be no rust leakage. Check whether the plastic buckets have whiplashes and breakages, and whether the lid seals are intact. And then look at the appearance and logo, large companies have a unique random 10-digit identification code.

(2) View inspection report

The authoritative inspection report should include the three CMA, CAL, and CNAS logos, and the lack or lack of reports is not authoritative. Pay attention to whether the report has expired, the inspection report of the regular manufacturer is changed once a year, and the number of each inspection report is unique.

(3) Open the lid inspection

Good quality coatings have a very small taste. If they have a pungent odor or a strong odor, they are not a good coating. If there are phenomena such as sedimentation, agglomeration, floating water, mildew, and odor, the paint has been stored for a long time or has poor quality; After stirring, pick a little paint with a wooden stick to observe the state of its downstream flow. If the filaments continue to flow downward, the paint has good leveling and good decorative effect.

(4) Precautions for use

Open all doors and windows as much as possible before construction and use to ensure adequate ventilation in the construction area. If it is allergic skin, always wear protective equipment during use. If you accidentally contaminate the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water; do not allow children to enter the construction Area and place products where they are out of reach.
