**Grand Opening of the 12th China Redwood Classical Furniture Exhibition**
From March 15 to 19, 2014, the 2014 China (Zhongshan) Redwood Furniture Culture Expo and the 12th China Redwood Classical Furniture Exhibition took place in Zhongshan, a city known as the hometown of great men. Hosted by the China Forest Products Industry Association, the event was supported by multiple local authorities and industry associations, including the Zhongshan City Redwood Furniture Industry Association, Shenzhen Asia-Pacific Media Co., Ltd., and the Zhongshan City Economic and Information Bureau.
The exhibition was held at the Zhongshan Expo Center, covering an area of 16,500 square meters. Over 160 well-known redwood furniture companies from across the country participated, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive events in the industry. The theme of the expo centered on redwood culture, emphasizing integrity and craftsmanship. It showcased the finest redwood furniture and highlighted the evolving styles of Chinese classical and neo-classical designs. After years of development, the event has become a key platform for the national furniture industry.
**New Concept – Cultural Leadership**
In 2012, under the guidance of the “global Zhongshan†initiative, the Dayong Redwood Furniture Fair was upgraded to the China (Zhongshan) Redwood Furniture Culture Expo. This shift aimed to strengthen the "Zhongshan Brand" and create a more professional and authoritative platform for the industry. The event introduced Chaozhou Yixi wood carving displays for the first time, enriching the cultural experience and turning the expo into a real cultural event.
With over 160 exhibitors, including many from outside Zhongshan, the fair demonstrated its nationwide influence. For two consecutive years, out-of-town participants outnumbered local ones, showing the growing appeal of the event. The expo is now seen as a driving force for industry growth, a catalyst for transformation, and a bridge for cooperation between Zhongshan and the rest of the country.
**New Theme – Integrity and Compliance**
This year’s event emphasized “integrity†as a core theme. The “Zhongshan City Redwood Furniture Industry Integrity Convention†was launched, initiated by 15 leading companies. The convention promotes fair competition, self-discipline, and sustainable development. Several stamps were also released, including “Redwood · Zhongshan,†“New Classical Redwood Furniture,†and “Protection of Consumer Rights.†These stamps symbolize the commitment of the industry to quality and transparency.
**New Power – Transformation and Upgrading**
As the pilot town for industrial transformation, Dayong has taken center stage in this year’s event. With three national titles — “China Redwood Industry Capital,†“China Redwood Carving Art Town,†and “China Redwood Furniture Production Town†— Dayong is setting the pace for the industry's future. The China (Dayong) Redwood Cultural Expo City, with a total investment of 4.8 billion yuan, is a major project aiming to promote Chinese culture through redwood art.
Notable figures such as Chen Peichen, a master of Chaozhou Yixi wood carving, and Yang Changhuai, a renowned painter, have joined the project, enhancing its cultural value. Strategic partnerships were also announced, including an agreement between Dayong Township and Yunnan Dingye Group to develop a cultural tourism town. Additionally, the China Redwood Furniture Engineering Technology Research Institute was established to support innovation and long-term growth.
On the final day, various activities were held, including rare treasure exhibitions, design competitions, and research institute openings. The organizer believes that the five-day event will elevate the reputation of “Zhongshan Redwood†and help the traditional furniture industry thrive nationwide.
