ON Semiconductor Introduces First Floating Regulated Charge Pump

ON Semiconductor recently announced the industry's only floating regulated charge pump, the NIS6201, for low-power applications. Designed to provide 20mA current and regulated output from 8V to 15V, it is a cost-effective alternative to small isolated switching power supplies. Suitable applications for the NIS6201 include the ORing diode drive voltage, floating sense circuit and LED driver.

The output voltage of most charge pumps is usually referenced to ground, and the output voltage of the NIS6201 can be referenced to any bus voltage, or to the bus voltage, to float bias or to supply power on any bus voltage. Designers can generate any bias voltage with a minimum of external components.

The NIS6201 includes a linear regulator and a multi-function charge pump that allows the bias voltage source to be converted from a ground reference to a higher voltage and can handle any required isolation voltage up to several hundred volts. The device features adjustable voltage output and thermal protection.

Sue Nee, marketing manager for ON Semiconductor's integrated integrated products, said, "The NIS6201 is a step forward in the design of the general power supply for the economy, or the auxiliary power supply that is required to power the integrated circuit for integrated PWM control ICs. If in the late design stage Need to add an output voltage, NIS6201 should be a quick and simple solution."

The NIS6201 is available in a lead-free SO-8 package and is priced at $0.53 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities. Samples and demo boards are available.
